1. Be Calm

Who keeps calm when bitten by a snake? Maybe only someone who's resigned to die. But you do have to know that when you refuse to keep calm in the face of this danger, it could increase your heart rate leading to the rapid spread of the venom because of increased blood flow.

2. Remove Clothing and Jewelry

The area surrounding the bite could immediately swell so remove constricting clothing and jewelries ASAP.

3. Don't Use Tourniquets

You are in the wrong if you believe using a tourniquet would stop the spread of the venom. A tourniquet could cut off blood flow completely. Instead, use a bandage.

4. Use Bandage

Apply a firm bandage  and immobilize affected body part with a splint or stick. Then keep the bite area below heart level to slow blood flow.

5. Don’t Suck

Do not suck or cut the wound in an attempt to remove the venom. It could increase the chance of infections and cause needless additional injury and pain.

6. Do Not Eat Food Or Drink Water

This is one important rule. To keep the metabolism of the body at a low rate, the victim shouldn’t eat or drink, especially caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

7. Take Note Of Details Of Snake

This is could be lifesaving. Try to remember the color, shape of the snake and also the time of the bite. It would help in swift identification and treatment of the bite. However, If you didn’t see the snake, do not stress or chase it.
